Billed as "The Crime of the Century" overprivileged teens Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb kidnapped and murdered Bobby Franks in 1924. After bludgeoning him, they concocted this elaborate ransom plot, which made no sense because Bobby was already dead. Then, they decided to leave poor Bobby at Wolf Lake, just over the border in Indiana.

Despite believing they were criminal masterminds, Leopold and Loeb left a trail of clues a mile long. The most incriminating clue being Richard Loeb's glasses dropped right next to Bobby's body at the same location where Leopold used to give birding tours. Weirdly enough, even as a teenager Leopold was a noted birdwatcher and published papers and books on birds throughout his life. This vital clue now sits on our birdy's beak.
